| Yep,
it's me, Chelsea, the original, the one that started all the Australian Cattle Dog stuff
at A-Mayes-N Acres. (Actually, I was around long before "A-Mayes-N Acres"
became the name of choice.) I was the "guinea pig" for all the things that have
become a way of life around here now. Shows, agility and obedience trials, therapy dog
visits, flyball, breed demos, being an assistance dog, walk-a-thons, herding......all the
things that are interesting started here with me."Been there, done that" as the
saying goes. Heck, I was even square danced for a whole weekend
at a shopping mall to help raise money for the local humane society! Wearing a skirt in
public is really demeaning but, as any good ACD knows, we have to
tolerate certain indignities we are subjected to by our unwitting (or is that dim-witted)
Alphas (our humans, for you non-cattle doggers out there) to enjoy the fun that goes along
with being able to embarass those Alphas in a variety of ways. "Paybacks" have
always been a personal favorite of mine, but the rools say you can't embarass Alphas in the same
place or same way twice. Gotta come up with something new every time....made the game
more interesting!
I'm 17+ years old now and retired from everything except an occasional attempt at reminding the younger ones around here to follow the rools. Since they're older and wiser now, and have learned pretty good the lessons I taught them before about proper Australian Cattle Dog behavior, I don't have too much work to do with them. Those cats still need a lot of reminders, though. For the most part, I'm happy now to stay home where it's warm and I can sleep on my big fluffy bed so you probably won't see me unless you come here to visit, but when you see Quinn, Cruiser or Magic out and about doing the things that Australian Cattle Dogs do, remember I'm the one who started it all. |
